As a result of various recent infrastructure improvement project, the City no longer needs to maintain the Main Avenue Water Tower as part of its distribution system. The Main Avenue Tower was built in 1949. The estimated cost to re-paint the water tower is roughly $700,000, due to the presence of lead-based paint. Do you think the City should:
A. Remove the water tower from the property. It would be nice to have the open space and $700,000 is too much to spend to repaint a tower that is no longer needed.
B. Take the water tower out of service, but continue to maintain it. The tower is a Community landmark and an icon and should be preserved despite the high cost to re-paint it.
C. Re-paint the tower and keep it in service. A community can never have too much water storage.
