Park & Recreation Board renames 12th Avenue South Recreation Area

Clear Lake Parks & Recreation is excited to announce some changes within the department.  First, the Park & Recreation Board recently renamed the 12th Avenue South Outdoor Recreation Area (located north or 12th Ave S. and 2 blocks east of Clear Creek Elementary) to the "Outlet Recreation Complex" (ORC).  This new name was reached after consideration of many recommendations from citizens of Clear Lake, and was chosen because it easily identifies not only the park's location, but also the fact that it is a multi-use area.

Secondly, and very exciting, is the recent completion of a multi-purpose trail at the ORC.  This 8-foot wide hard surfaced trial is over 3/4 of a mile long and includes 2 loops which connect the north and south sections of the recreation area.  The new trail offers a safe location for people to walk, run, or bike while remaining completely separated from any vehicle traffic.  The trail has two access points, the south entrance off of 12th Avenue S., and the north entrance off of S. 17th Street.  Walkers, runners, bicyclists, and general fitness enthusiasts are encouraged to give the trail a try.  Motorized vehicles of any kind on the trail are strictly prohibited.
