Important Parks Department Service Changes Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 disease, known as the coronavirus, a pandemic. During this time, we ask that all park users take additional precautions to protect their health and safety and that of those around them.

-As of today, March 17th, 2020; the Lakeview Community Room will be closed until further notice and all reservations for events for the remainder of March and the month of April will be cancelled.  New reservations will not be accepted for the month of April.

-All Parks and Recreation programs are suspended until further notice.  Registrations for summer programs and pool memberships will still be accepted.

People will still have access to City-owned parks and other open spaces to continue to enjoy the healthful benefits of recreation and being outdoors, however, as part of the City’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts, restroom facilities will not be available at City parks beginning at 8 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 until further notice.  This is not only to reduce community spread of the virus, but also due to low inventory and limited availability of cleaning and sanitary supplies.  We encourage practicing social distancing while enjoying open spaces, including avoiding groups and crowds, and visitors should use their bathroom before they leave home.

Please keep in mind this is an ever evolving situation, and further action and closures may be required.  We realize the hardships that these steps will create, and do not take these decisions lightly.  During these unprecedented times, we ask for your understanding and cooperation, and look forward to providing these services again in the future when the outlook for COVID-19 improves.
