CITY OF CLEAR LAKE CHANGE IN ACCEPTED ITEMS - RECYCLING DROP-OFF BINS
MARCH 23, 2020 11:00 A.M.

City recycling drop-off bins now limited to cardboard only

Effective immediately, the City of Clear Lake’s recycling drop-off bins, located on the south side of the Public Works property and just off of 4th Ave S., will be limited to bulk cardboard only.  The City was notified this morning by its solid waste hauler (Absolute Waste Removal) that its recycling processing center in Mason City will no longer be accepting materials such as glass, tin, and plastics from large drop box containers.

However, residents will still be able to continue recycling those items through the curbside program as that goes to a different processing center, located in Charles City.  Once again, the large recycling drop boxes will now be limited to cardboard only.

As a reminder, do NOT simply leave materials at the site.  Boxes must be broken down so that they are flat and then inserted in the drop-box.  Your cooperation will help the City and Absolute Waste be able to continue to provide this additional recycling opportunity.
